JSU is nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Appalachians in Northeast-ish Alabama. This is an area of extremely high freshwater biodiversity (fish, snails and turtles - oh my!). I have a wide variety of research interests generally geared towards conservation biology of freshwater turtles, which includes, but is not limited to studies of their ecology, natural history and evolutionary history. However, we also study other herpetofauna in this understudied region of Alabama.
